Sequel Podcast - 5 things we learn from filming MEGA famous people!
We recently produced & recorded video podcast episodes for The Sequel Stories Podcast with Gustaf Lundberg Toresson. Putting our lenses on some of the worlds most famous business leaders, musicians and models. All part of the Creator economy, from the visionary pioneer Gary Vaynerchuk, and designer sensation Matilda Djerf, to comedian fashion icon Rickey Thompson and the founder of Reebok, Sequel's guests are all global leaders in their respective fields.
Having spent all this time with these famous high achievers we wanted to list the 5 things we have picked up from them!
Always be on time, even if they are not! - a tip here is to setup our camara’s and equipment and then send them a short video of the setup they can expect when they arrive. This shows them how professional it is and tends to get them there a bit quicker.
Be ready to chitchat! - recording someone is quite a personal experience to share. Moving hair, lights, adjusting headsets and audio levels gives time to build a rapport with the celeb. So don;t be surprised if you end up in a 1 hour chat after the production. This happens all the time to us and it is a honour to get to know them a bit.
Tell them what you want - don’t be afraid to respectfully tell them what you want from them on camera. They will respect strong and well considered opinions but always give them the feeling their feedback is welcome, or else!
Hard Stop? Always show that you respect their time above everything. Which means do everything to start on time and ask them if they have a hard stop, so everyone knows upfront. Chances are they will make more time for you, just for asking that question!
Tell them what you liked the most about their performance and be specific - even the famous people get a little nervous. They will like you a lot if you tell them something specific you enjoyed from the content they just produced. Even add a follow up question which will show you really care.
Working with high achievers can be a real thrill and often the experience results in learning they are actually really normal and fun people! We love it…!
